Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised a suspected notorious kidnapper, rescued four kidnapped victims and arrested another suspect during separate security operations in Edo State.

The operations were carried out by troops of Four Brigade under Two Division, Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Edo State Security Corps.

A statement released by the Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Four Brigade Nigerian Army, Kennedy Anyanwu, says the rescue operation took place during a night patrol under Operation Igbo Danu One in Warake Forest, Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.

Troops responding to gunshots in the forest engaged suspected kidnappers, neutralising one of them while others fled into the bush. Four victims identified were rescued unhurt and reunited with their families.

Items recovered from the neutralised suspect include six hundred and fifty thousand naira, mobile phones, footwear and a power bank.

In a separate operation in Ujemen community, Esan West Local Government Area, troops raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout where a thirty-nine-year-old suspect, Omogbegha Solomon, was arrested.

A shrine containing charms and photographs of several individuals were discovered and destroyed during the raid, while the suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Ekpoma Division, for further investigation.

Commander, Four Brigade, Brigadier-General Ahmed Balogun, commended the troops and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Edo State.
