Passengers aboard an Arik Air Boeing 737-700 experienced a tense moment on Wednesday as their flight was forced to make an emergency landing at the Benin Airport.

It was learnt that the emergency landing was due to a fault in one of its engines.

According to reports, the crew detected unusual indications from one of the engines while descending and heard a loud bang, prompting immediate safety measures and a diversion to the nearest suitable airport.

The exact cause of the fault remains unclear as officials declined to comment.

Sources confirmed that all passengers and crew on board disembarked safely, with no injuries.

A replacement aircraft was swiftly dispatched to ensure the stranded travelers reached their final destination without further disruption.
