A group of concerned members of the All Progressives Congress in Edo Central Senatorial District has called on party leaders and stakeholders to ensure fairness, unity, and adherence to party directives ahead of the forthcoming local government council elections in Edo State.
In a statement released to the public, the group expressed support for the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo, commending ongoing development efforts and commitment to inclusive governance across the state.
However, the group also raised concerns about what they described as perceived marginalization within the district. They urged party leadership to address these concerns in order to maintain unity and strengthen democratic processes within the party.
Central to their appeal is the recent directive issued by the state leadership of the party, which indicates that current acting local government chairmen are not eligible to contest in the upcoming elections. The group emphasized the importance of respecting this directive, noting that consistent adherence to party guidelines is essential for credibility and internal cohesion.
They further called on party members and stakeholders to avoid actions that could create division, and instead work collectively to ensure a transparent and fair electoral process.
The statement concluded with an appeal to supporters of the party and residents of Edo Central to remain committed to democratic values and to support efforts aimed at fostering unity and progress in the state.
The statement was endorsed by ITEPU OKO-EBELLE,MATTHEW OKASABOR,JYERE OGHADEVA and ENOMHAMIDOBO AGNES within the district.
