The suspended Enogie of Essi Ewuare community who is alleged to be the mastermind of the planned sale of the several hectares of farmland in Essi Ewuare community, in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State, His Royal Highness, Godwin Osarenkhoe has debunked the allegations leveled against him by some protesters recently.
Recently some residents of Essi Ewuare community protested against an alleged planned sale of the farmland in the community.
The protesters accused some persons including the suspended Enogie of the Community.
Reacting to the allegation leveled against him, the suspended Enogie said the protesters are mischievous.
He accused them of falsehood which led to his suspension in 2013.
He said in 1968 during the period of Oba Akenzua he was made the Enogie of Essi community and enjoyed a good relationship with the palace of the Oba of Benin until those envious of his cordial relationship with the Oba of Benin plotted to tarnish his name.
The suspended Enogie made a passionate appeal to His Royal Majesty Ewuare the second oba of Benin Ewuare to pardon and lift his suspension.
He said some persons in the community have taken advantage of his suspension to engage in illegal sales of communal land.
On his part, the Odionwere of the community, Napoleon Osarenkhoe and an elderly woman Mrs. Imuetinyan Osewa alleged that those who staged managed the protest did so, to further indict the Enogie for him to perpetually remain in suspension.
Essi community is said to be the community where Oba Ewuare the second hails from.
