The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the appeals of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM and the Action Peoples Party, APP, against the Appeal Court and the Edo Governorship Election Tribunal verdicts, validating the victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the September nineteen, 2020 governorship poll in the state.
In its ruling, the apex court dismissed the appeals filed by both parties in the suits marked SC/CV/394/2021, Allied People’s Movement versus INEC and Others and SC/CV/393/2021, Action People’s Party Versus Mr. Godwin Obaseki and Others.
The Court held that the appellant’s counsel was asking in knowledge of basic law and fraudulent.
It awarded one million naira against the appellant for each party.
The Supreme Court had earlier dismissed the certificate forgery case filed by the APC against Governor Godwin Obaseki, for lacking in merit.
