Residents advocate use of InfoTech for aging population

As Nigeria joins in the global commemoration of the 2022 World Telecommunication, some Benin City residents have emphasised the use of information technologies for the ageing population to stay healthy, connected and less dependent on physical activities.

The International day aims at exhibiting the significance of telecommunication and increasing the awareness of the vital role it plays in our lives.

It also aims at promoting the development of technology for users of different ages.

The respondents who include legal practitioners, Usi Osemwowa and Greg Iyayi and a public affairs analyst Dr Okunzuwa Osawaru advocated increased exposure of the ageing population on the use of ICT to ensure they brace up with technological innovations of the present-day society

The theme for this year’s commemoration to
Mark the anniversary of the founding of the International Telecommunication Union on 17th May 1865 as “Digital technologies for older Individuals and Healthy Ageing”.
