The President of the World Medical Association (WMA), Dr.Osahon Enabulele, has arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he is expected to address the 37th General Assembly and 56th Council Meeting of the Confederation of Medical Associations in Asia and Oceania.
The President World Medical Association who is reputed for his impactful global leadership and advocacy for the rights of physicians, citizens’ health rights and Universal Health Coverage, was warmly received upon his arrival at the airport, by the leaders and organizers of the General Assembly.
He is expected address the Assembly on various issues, including the imperative of strengthening the Primary healthcare system as a means to attaining Universal Health Coverage.
Many participants, including stakeholders and leaders of medical associations from all parts of Asia and Oceania, are already gathered in Dhaka for the General Assembly.
The 37th General Assembly and 56th Council Meeting will feature discussions on important policy issues affecting the medical profession and health system, and will run from September 1-3, 2023.
After his participation at the General Assembly, the President of the World Medical Association is also expected to participate in the forthcoming United Nations High Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage, Pandemic Prevention and Preparedness, billed to hold in New York, USA.
