The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) has published the personal details of candidates contesting in the upcoming Local Government Council Councillorship by-elections.

These details, submitted through FORM M-ONE, include academic credentials and supporting documents.

The publication is available at the EDSIEC State Headquarters and in fifteen Local Government Councils across the state.

This move follows the conclusion of party primaries, with only one political party meeting the submission deadline of Tuesday, 9th September 2025.

According to EDSIEC Chairman, Sir Jonathan Aifuobhokhan, the Commission encourages public scrutiny of the published documents.

He noted that any individual who participated in a party primary and believes a candidate submitted false information has the legal right to challenge such nominations in the Federal High Court, as outlined in Section 29, Subsection 5 of the Electoral Act 2022.

He emphasized that this process promotes transparency and allows for accountability within the electoral system.

Sir Aifuobhokhan reiterated the Commission’s dedication to fairness and due process in preparing for the Councillorship by-elections scheduled for Saturday, 20th September 2025.

He stressed that EDSIEC remains committed to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and warned that no submissions received after the official deadline would be accepted.
